[…] Orkut… Orkut is our chirkut(slang for thief in India), because it eats our time. And now Google team is going to make it more efficient. If Pete Cashmore have got it right, then orkut is integrating G-Talk their IM client on orkut, within a week to come. Wallop though a new service is very intresting and works on a very same principle as that of orkut. This must have pushed them hard, or they might have realised the power social networking, after seeing My Space poweress and also after paying $1.65 Billion for You Tube, that what theese new type of services can do. I asked for it, I wrote about it on my personal blog at least 2 times. As a fact, orkut is very famous outside US, and in India it have deep penetration among college and school students. So for us in India this is one very nice move. Many American bloggers feel that social networking market is too much filled, but I think they are saying it because they are presently seeing market of US which indeed is very cluttered, but global population can use much more services which whole net world can provide. One can allways say that as internet penetration will increase so will social networking penetration, and if google can capitalise on the devloping markets then they are going to have some real fun. I would once again say that I would have gone one bit more forward, using more of Google sharing service on orkut… because as Lary had asked for more services rather than new products from its team. Think of it, Google Reader+Orkut, Google Notebook+Orkut.(though Notebook is not that big hit), Google Video+You(G)Tube+Orkut, Calendar+Orkut, Their lattest office suite+Orkut. Think of it, I think they already have so many service ready for social networking, but not at one place. If I would have been their boss I would have asked them to, ‘Go get it’. […]
